Seven Design Inspiration Sources for Your Custom Home

If you’re considering building a new custom home in the Cincinnati area, or you’ve already built your dream home, then you’re already far too aware how difficult both the exterior, and interior design processes can be. Not only does your new home need to be structurally sound—it has to look good and feel even better. It’s easy during this time to feel like you’re running out of design ideas. So to help you through this creative block, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite online spots to gather design inspiration for your new (or current) custom home.

Houzz

It’s hard to believe that Houzz has already celebrated its 10th birthday. Over the last decade, this giant has managed to win our hearts with jaw-dropping interior photos, direct online shopping integration and a great tool for finding trade professionals in your local area. Get familiar with Houzz and start gathering design inspiration for your new kitchen, or see what your home might look like with cedar shutters. Organize all your inspo into customizable “Ideabooks” and save for later. We’re all about custom at Robert Lucke Homes!

Pinterest

Pinterest is a bit of a predecessor to Houzz. Rather than ideabooks, Pinterest allows you to save your favorite “pins” or posts to various boards, for safekeeping. There’s plenty of home design inspiration to go around on Pinterest, whether you’re keeping it DIY, or you just need a reference to show your custom builder. Dig in and get inspired. Happy pinning!

Instagram

While many might consider Houzz and Pinterest to be the go-to online home design hubs, an experienced Instagrammer can also find plenty of interior design projects to try, up-and-coming exterior features, or countless celebrity mansion photos to gawk at. Just search for a tag like #kitchencabinets, save it for later using Instagram’s new save feature, and even organize your saved posts into various collections—similar to Pinterest’s boards. Life’s pretty great on the ‘Gram.

Google Search

Google: The King of the Web. In a split-second search, you can find information on nearly anything you ever wanted to know… or didn’t. So why not use this incredible power to burst out of your design inspiration creative block?

ElleDecor.com

Elle Décor is a website that you may notice in one of your Google searches. This incredible blog always seems to have something new and exciting. Today’s article: 44 Best Small Bathroom Ideas. Scrolling through photos is fun, but sometimes it’s nice to visit a blog like this and hear the input of a home design professional while you drool over all those pretty pictures.

MLS Websites

Have you ever considered the Multiple Listings Service websites as a source of home design inspiration? If not, you may be missing out. Here in Greater Cincinnati, we have some great real estate platforms like SibcyCline.com and Comey.com that can offer you some valuable home design inspiration, and from homes right in your area.

Lucke Website

That’s right – you can get inspired without ever leaving this wonderful website. Just scroll up to our main menu and click Gallery. Choose a tab like Great Rooms or Kitchens from the submenu and scroll through some of our most impressive custom homes from over the years. You can even take a 3D tour of a custom Lucke home in Liberty Township.

We hope this article helped to shake things up a bit and provide you with some much-needed home design inspiration. And remember, when you build your new custom home with The Robert Lucke Group, you have access to our full selections center, as well as our dedicated home design Selections Coordinator. The Lucke team is here to guide you through the entire process, one step at a time!
